There is no "right" age to date. This depends on the individual and his or her maturity level amongst many other factors. This is not to say you are not mature because you are certainly thinking outside the box. If the right person comes along, I think you should sit down and talk to your parents... worse case scenerio they say no. And I am sure that is not what you wanted to hear, but it is true. But they should not have much reasoning for saying no, because at least you are not sneaking around behind their back. You do not have to date just because other 16 year olds are. And remember love comes to those who wait ;-)

Your Mom probably says you are because there are probably a lot of things you probably won't understand and might get confused and even hurt over in the future if you haven't learned through observation now.

There really is no right age to date, as long as you're not too immature or don't understand that being in a relationship, is giving up part of your time too. It would be okay to ask for permission. After all, you're not breaking any rules.

Of course you're not too young! My Mum met my Dad when she was 15, and they've been married for years. Loads of people date when they are 16 and many even younger! I was 14 when I had my first girlfriend and it definitely didn't feel too young.

Although it is possible to find your potential partner when you're 16, at that age in many cases 'going out' is just a bit of fun. If the right guy comes along, go for it! And most importantly, have fun! :)

Hope this helps...

i think by the age of 16 its fine to have serious relationships. nowadays people have relationships from being very young - from being about 8 i had a boyfriend for years (but at that age it was a quick peck on the cheek). now i'm 16 (nearly 17) and have the best boyfriend in the world and we've been together for over 18 months now. we are completely in love and i think that this way is better than sampling every sausage on the market.

I started dating when I was 16 and my parents supported my decision 100%.
It's harmless as long as you keep the intimacy at a minimum.
I'm glad you are saving yourself for marriage, virginity is an important possession; especially at such a young age.
You seem very knowledgeable and mature for your age, therefore I'm sure your parents will allow you to date when the time comes.
From the sounds of it, they have done a good job raising you.
Good luck.

Whatever your mom says is right. She's been there before so she knows what she's talking about. If the right guy comes along, go for a friendship. That way when your parents give you permission, you have a candidate!

I don't think you are too young to date. That's kind of the idea of "high school sweethearts." However, you are much too young to get INVOLVED with anyone, be it intimately or romantically. You should, of course, upon finding someone you are interested in, engage in a mature conversation with your parents beforehand. Demonstrate to them that you are capable of making mature decisions, and they may be more lenient on you. By all means, though, follow through with your promises to your parents, and show you have self respect.

Absolutely. And use the old line that you are the only girl you know who can't date. They are too strict, etc. etc. (I'm a bad influence) I think if your perfect date guy is old enough to drive the car, you should be allowed to date him. 16 is late to start. But that's just my opinion. Good Luck!! @8-)

time and understanding never seem to cross paths at a point where it benefits the one seeks answers to questions...so in your case i would say 16 is a good age to DATE...getting opportunities to interact with the opposite sex is crucial because your still learning how interact with ppl on an comprehensive level...so date but keep it at that...its good to learn at early age what things attract you to a potential mate...so remember sex is not or at least shouldn't be apart of dating, because your only getting to know the person...i'd say 16 is a good starting age...
