Is there any difference between waiting for your W2 or doing it with your last paycheck.

NHMike is correct. It is also illegal for any software company or tax shop to transmit your information to the IRS without being in possession of the W-2.

If you use software or an online service, you will most likely be swearing that you are in possession of the original W-2 when you file. By all means, prepare your return in draft (easy to do online or with Turbotax etc) but please wait for the W-2 before you hit the "Send" button.

Usually none, but there could be an instance where your company puts through a tax adjustment after your last paycheck that effects your taxes. It is best to wait for the W-2.

The IRS wants to see their approved forms attached to your return. W2's are ok, paycheck receipts are not.

The W4 form has information that the paystub does not include.
