I have a 11 mth old choc lab, for the past few months she has been on Presciption dog food, her digestive sysytem was really messed up, well the vet said to slowly merge her into a new food. She used to eat Science Diet, well all I heard is that is bad, I need some good ideas on what food is the best for her and I mean the BEST!! Money is no problem, I have heard people say Blue Buffalo, Canidae, Chicken Soup, Diamond< Royal Canin, etc-- I just want to hear what other people say espically from experience. I want Sometjing as good as possible, also want her coat to stay shiny, and etc. She is my baby, and I only want the best for her. thanks for the help!!

Who said Science Diet is bad? That's what we feed our lab mix puppy, and her coat is nice and shiny and she's very healthy. Our vet recommended Science Diet, as did all of the workers at Petsmart.

I stay stick with Science Diet. :)

Ah, I see . . . well now I'm really curious to see why people say that Science Diet is bad. I'm like you--I want the best food for our puppy. :)

Science Diet is NOT a good food despite the fact many vets recommend it and sell it. Vets are wonderful and I've worked with/for them for 34 years, but most have no concept of what is in foods and tend to recommend foods that they know..thankfully many vets are learning about better foods and are starting to steer away from low quality foods such as Science Diet, Purina Dog Chow, Pedigree, IAMS/Eukanuba, Alpo...
Look for a good quality meat based food such as Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, Canidae, Innova, Solid Gold, Timberwolf, Blue Buffalo to name a few.

Well i would recommend Artemis Dog food. If you look at the ingredient you dont see any by products. some dogs do have allergic reaction when you feed them certain brands. Like whatever you see in like petsmarts read the ingredients. Most of them have by products which is like the left over of any meat vegetables. Artemis dont have that on their ingredients. Another food I recommend is Three dogs bakery. Its pure Chicken & turkey and it comes with liver already which is good for the dog. the reason i stop feeding them that kind of food is that my dog is allergic liver. Well hope this helps.

Royal Canin is the best, especally for dogs with past intestinal problems (it is actually formulated for that) and will not give urinary crystals

My vet swears by it
