I knew one that was the sweetest dog you've ever met (Daisy). She was scared to death of the owners other dog - a 14 year old German Shepherd.

Poor pits - They get such a bad rap because of bad owners that train them to fight and attack. If trained properly, they're just as lovable as any other dog!

My girlfriend had a female pit and it was a great dog. It was very playful and never agressive toward people at all. This dog totally changed my perception of the breed.

The dog was very smart and was well trained which helped I'm sure.

Keep in mind many of the stories you hear about pit bulls attacking people do not even involve actual Pit Bulls, no one takes the time to identify the true breed and the Pit Bull makes for a better story.

This site shows you how easy that can happen...http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/findpit.html

Also keep in mind that Pit Bulls in the past have been trained to attack other dogs, not people. So this thought that they are breed to attack people is also made up.

I have been around "pit bulls" and mixes for a long time now. I am a vet tech and have had some really good ones cross my path. They are always willing to please their owners and defend their house. If you're asking about good stories to see if you want one, then look at Ceasar Millan's website and or watch his show on the National Geographic channel. They can go either way depending on how the are raised, trained, and socialized. They are good family dogs and live a long time when properly cared for.

Well no attacks today.Raising a dog made for hunting wild boar and found later to be the best fighting dogs. That's a bad idea no mater how good your are to a dog it's still a wild animal.People have to train there children about dogs and them self as adults. It not just pit bulls all dogs attack kids pits just do it more often.

My hubby had a pit bull before he moved to southern Ca. We went up north to visit his family, and we stopped by his old roomates place who had the dog, I was SO AFRAID to go inside, his dog looked sooooo scary, but we went in, and when I sat down the dog wanted to climb up on the chair I was sitting on and sit on my lap! =) he was super friendly.

The garden center I go to have one and she is very sweet. My kids would pet her and she loved it. I don;t think of a breed as a certain temperament..it is the individual dog and how it is raised that determines it's personality.
