How many athiests have been offered a hell threat from a "Christian"?

I assume all of you. Good.

Those "Christians" are hypocrites.
Hypocrites do not fool God.

We are called not to judge
We are called to love, and to pray for you

How many Athiests have had a Christian respectably talk to you about Christ and just fellowship with you?

I assume very little.

The problem is not you, Athiests, it is us.

We can't point the finger until we realize what's wrong with us.

Real Christians talk to you because they know you are on the wrong road, love you like Christ did, and want to show you what Christ gave them.

Do not assume that we are all hypocritical know-nothings...

Because I could easily say the same for many athiests...

May the God you don't believe exsists bless you anyways :)

Main question: How do you feel about Hell threats and do you know that there are real, loving Christians out there performing God's will on Earth?

Yep, been threatened many a time. I know there are good Christians out there. Though I won't say that they're "performing God's will"... obviously since there is no gods.

And here, all this time, I thought Hell was only a threat if you BELIEVED in it. If Atheists don't believe in God, why would they believe in the devil or Hell?

But then again, on that note, why would Christians who KNOW this fact think that threatening someone with Hell would even work?

And for that matter, since most Atheists I've met came from Christian backgrounds, why would Christians try to convince them of something they've already decided is false by using the Bible and talking about Jesus? THEY DON'T BELIEVE IN THEM. If a Christian really wants to present a convincing argument to an Atheist, they should prove their stance without using a book that most Atheists don't believe in any more than they believe Harry Potter.

I'm going to gather that most Atheists are merely annoyed by Hell threats (but only because you're interrupting their peaceful lives with mindless babble), and don't care if there ARE real, loving Christians out there any more than they care about the real, loving Buddhists, Jews, Pagans, Agnostics, Atheists, Muslims, Ba'hai, Hindus, etc. They probably just ignore it and go on, much like the rest of us do.

I'm a Spiritual Agnostic.. and all I ever get from Christians is hell threats.... and I dont even say there is no God.. I just say I dont know for sure if god exists or not, but I dont believe in him or organized religion. I have only met ONE single person who was Christian and did not threaten me with hell but rather debated politely and rationally and tried to sway me to his cause with logical arguments.. It still didnt sway my personal beliefs, but it was a real eye opener and it was the first time I overcame the stereotypical image of Christians I had in my head. This was years ago, and to this day I still remember that guy because really he showed me that not everyone in a group is the same and that we cant judge everyone the same based on their religion or belief. I dont like it when people threaten me no matter what its about, but I do know that because one Christian does, it doesnt mean all of them do, and I truly believe that if there is a God the Christians who are not threatening people and are just trying to share the way they feel and believe, are the ones who are doing as you call it "gods work". But the Christians threatening others with hell are not doing anybodys work they are just being arrogant and mean.

Good post. I've said this to a few Christians, but they scoffed and blew it off as me being Anti-Christian.

It's not just Christians, everyone is hypocritical to a degree.

The Hell Threats are amusing to me. A LOT of Christians have used the hell threats on me, but all it does is drive me further from Christianity, im not going to be a part of something that promotes using fear and scare tactics to make you believe (Its what made me convert from Christianity in the first place).

Fascinating. Now thats rare on the internet. A Christian being respectful. WoW, I'm floored.

I don't believe in your god so your god is all crap. But I do thank you for the respect.

Oh yes, many times I've been threatened with hell from Christians. Which I think is really funny because I don't believe in hell. I'd love to know why they'd think that was a scarey threat to someone that doesn't believe.

I'm appalled by some of the responses Doug is getting. I expected better from my fellow non-christians. We may not agree with what he's saying entirely. And yes, it may seem like he is still trying to convert. But he's being respectful, and he's willing to take a critical look at his own religions followers. He should be applauded, and it is not polite to say that his God is "crap." I'm embarrassed that we can't all respond with the same maturity.

Threats of hell don't bother me, it is laughable to me when someone says I'm going someplace that does not exist. It's the same as telling me the Wicked Witch of the West is going to send her flying monkeys after me. I do know that there are honestly caring people who want to do good things in the world who just happen to be Christian as there are people who are Jews, Buddhist, Hindus, Muslims, and Atheists. Christians don't have exclusive rights on good deeds

Hell threats are amusing to me. A fictional place cannot hurt me.

I have encouraged a few friendships via this site with Christians. WE are able to hold excellent, respectable conversations. So, I know there are real, loving Christians out there.

One disagreement with your post - they are not performing God's work. God is not real. They are performing what they beleive to be God's work. But its all good....

I've been told I'm going to Hell because I'm Wiccan. It really doesn't bother me anymore at all.

"Because I could easily say the same for many athiests."

How many death threats per day do you get from atheists? 'Cause I get about 20 a day from Christians. FYI.
