About 6 months ago I bought a 2001 Beetle with 40k miles on it for $13,000. You're probably not going to be able to find one for much less than that. I'd say $10,000-13,000. I looked everywhere an 2001 and didn't find one for any less than $10,000.

Go to kelly blue book at bluebook. com. It has several factors you need to consider. I got a value of 10,000 by private seller, 8,800 trade in, but I put excellent condition 20000 miles.
go to:http://autos.yahoo.com/kbb/report.html;_ylt=AvhYA4qr3VBM3f12ISiu0zv7lL8F?ee=4GE&dr=-FW&tr=ATT&mi=20000&eq=-AC&eq=-PS&eq=-RA&eq=-AB&eq=-CC&eq=-PL&eq=-PW&eq=-RC&eq=-SB&eq=-TW&eq=-DB&cn=4&tp=0&mc=VW&mk=Volkswagen&mo=New+Beetle&st=KS&tc=C3&tn=GLS+Hatchback+2D&yr=2001&zip=66206&submit=Continue
