I'm 20 and I have a healthy diet and weight-would 60 crunches/sit ups per day be adequate to tone my stomach? how long does it take for your body to develop muscle and is it more sufficient to increase the amount of sit ups/crunches? I've had someone tell me I'm wasting my time doing so many reps-about 30 is more than enough?

It depends on how long you do them, and how many times a week you do them, if you do them once a week, then it won't work, you have to stay on your diet, and follow all diet instructions before seeing any improvements, sit ups and crunches alone will not impact your stomach muscles in a short length of time, probably around 6 months you will see a diffrence, and if you add more exercises and or aerobics to your daily routines, you might see changes more quickly.
