Simple, when smoking, your unborn baby will also "smoke". Nicotine is quite toxic, for example, if you periodically touch a bird's legs it will get dermatitis! Good luck!

There are all the health reasons. Your baby could be born with problems and then the second hand smoke will cause more. You won't live as long and healthy as you could. You will have more energy to play with your child and won't be sick as much.

There's other things too. It is more likely that your child will smoke if you do. When your child is old enough and has friends over, they may not want to because of the smoking (I won't let my son spend any time at someone's house if they smoke). It will probably be embarrassing for your child. Your child will smell like smoke when they go to school etc.

There are a million reasons you should quit!!! You are doing great so far and don't be afraid to ask for help if you are having trouble. If you can't do it the first time, then keep trying until you succeed. I know you can do it!! It is definitely worth it!!

Here are a few reasons...

It's embarrassing to carry around a baby with a cigarette hanging out of your mouth!

Once you have a baby you can not smoke in your car, home or any where near them... so it really becomes a horrible hassle.

You will feel a great sense of accomplishment and it will empower you as a Mother!

No more ickey smelly smoke odor!!!!!

Your child can develop asthma symptoms from second hand smoke and it also increases the risk of SIDS!

Those are the first things that come to mind! You'll quit!! Just keeping thinking about that baby you wanna have!
Best of Luck!

ok well heres one, your baby is fed via the umbilical cord via the placenta which in turn is fed by your bloodstream, your blood takes oxygen into the placenta which in turn takes oxygen into the babies bloodstream, smoking cuts down the oxygen levels in your blood therefore minimising the oxygen going through to your baby, also nicotine will get through to your child increasing the chances of cancer in the baby, theres theory out there that people who smoke are more prone to lung cancer, you always hear someone dying with lung cancer who never smoked in their life, but you can bet they were for the 9 mnths previous via their mothers cigarette, i hope this has motivated you also think on this if you cannot find the motivation of quitting smoking for the sake of your babies health, then you are not protecting your baby, once the baby is born it will still need protecting are you going to find the motivation you need to stop the baby peeing over the electric socket? the motivation you need to hold your babys hand when crossing the road? if you can say yes to the last two then you can find the motivation you need to quit while pregnant

First reason it is sooo bad on your unborn child(know from experience...didn't smoke with first two did with third and baby number 3 has many many many medical problems...several which can be linked to smoking)

Second if you continue to smoke you may not have the energy or ability to play with your child as it grows.
Also what would be worse than dieing from complications of smoking while your child is still young.
In the future you may want grandchildren....if you are still alive will you be able to play with them with out having to yank an oxygen machine around?

Good luck on quitting...I know it is a very hard thing to do.

A cigarette contains over 4000 chemicals and a lot of them are poisonous. Here is a list I found of the worst ones:

Nicotine: a deadly poison
Arsenic: used in rat poison
Methane: a component of rocket fuel
Ammonia: found in floor cleaner
Cadmium: used in batteries
Carbon Monoxide: part of car exhaust
Formaldehyde: used to preserve body tissue
Butane: lighter fluid
Hydrogen Cyanide: the poison used in gas chambers

Every single cigarette you'd smoke when pregnant, and every single one of those poisonous chemicals, gets passed directly on to your child. They literally get poisoned just the same as you would.

This is made all the worse however because they are so small (It becomes more concentrated I assume) and because they're still developing it can cause all sorts of damage to them. Nothing really has a good start to life if it's being poisoned continually in the womb. lol

Good luck on giving up!

Good job! Keep it up!

Okay, reasons to quit:
* It will kill you
* It will kill your child

If that's not enough, I honestly don't know what would motivate you. But I'll work on a few more:
* It makes you smell bad & gives you bad breath
* It makes it hard for you to climb a set of stairs
* It makes your skin wrinkle and age prematurely
* It costs waaay too much money
* It makes you extra susceptible to chest colds & bronchitis

BTW...I'm totally proud of you for quitting before you start the trying process. You're already on the right track. Keep it up, I know you can do it!

Well as I am sure that you know all of the health issues that go along with smoking. So, it would just be a better environment for both you and your child. Your child may also have allergies, which will stop you from smoking around him/her anyway. And I want to commend for trying to quit smoking. Kudos!!!

That's great that you're trying to stop! :) But! Main reason I can think of is that second-hand smoke is as bad if not worse than actually smoking and you don't want you or your kid to get lung cancer. Plus when your kid is older they might really not like it that you smoke. At least I know that I hate it when my brother smokes becuase I know how bad it is for his health. Plus it stinks! :) Good luck quiting, God bless.

Smoking may make it harder to get pregnant, so the sooner you quit the better.

Good Luck :)
