I have always worked out but recently I have tried to add more toning and lifting. My eating habits haven't changed but latey no matter what I eat I am hungry an hour later. It's driving me crazy because I want to lose weight and cut back on calories, but I don't want to be starving all day.

Why am I always hungry and what can I do?

and no I am not pregnant.

Maybe you are not getting enough calories. Check with a nutrionist to see how many calories you should be getting for your desired weight. Also, make sure you are getting plenty of fruits and vegis in your diet... they help you feel full longer. If you are spending all of your calories on say sweets and carbs.. you won't be full for very long. Divide your calories into three meals and two snacks.

A hungry hungry hippo could easily eat a hungry hungry hippie. And that's just the appetiser. Jessica's great at poetry though.

cutting back on calories isn't as important as what makes up those calories.

I would suggest switching to a bodybuilder's eating schedules, have more meals and snacks, just make them smaller in size and eat slowly (so you don't overeat). Try 3 meals a day and 2-3 healthy snacks.

Depriving yourself of food when you are hungry also will send your body into "starvation" mode where your metabolism will slow down and it will begin to break down your muscles (which increase your metabolism so you don't want your body to do that).

You may want to watch out for HFCS, high fructose corn syrup. It has been found to make hungry, imbalance the blood sugar, cause overeating and diabetes. As they have said, you may want to read the labels!

Wishing you some healthful food!

To give you an accurate answer I would have to know how many calories you are consuming, your height and weight, male or female.

I would guess it is because you have added more exercise and may not be consuming enough protien, which is what your body uses to repair your muscles (which makes them stronger). But without knowing your diet and caloric needs, I am afraid I cannot give you a good answer.

1. Before eating a meal, look at yourself in the mirror. You can see all the fat on your body and you don't want it there. Repeat that to yourself 5 times before eating.
2. Act as if too much food will kill you. Only take what you can eat, and if someone is serving you, remind them that you don't want a large portion.
3. Some time or another, somebody will offer you a second plate of food. If you are that hungry, take it, but if you are already full, kindly put down the offer.
4. Don't feel forced to finish your plate! If you can't eat it all than thank the host but apoligize that you couldn't finish it.
5. Eat slowly and enjoy every mouthfull! Don't feel as if it is a race. Chew carefully and bring up conversation.
