Does anybody even care about securing the border? Canada is now spending 500 million to protect their border, why can't we do the same?

The Democrats will pull funding for the fence to please their liberal "one world order" base, and if it causes trouble by allowing terrorists into the country, they will simply go on the media and say, "See, this happened during a Republican Presidency". Much like they did with Bush 41. Talked him into agreeing to raise taxes to break gridlock, and then hit him during the campaign with the "No New Taxes" barrage. They will stab you in the back even if you try to work with them.

The President and the Republicans NEVER FUNDED THE FENCE. They passed a meaningless bill that called for the fence, but didn't give any money for its construction. Blame Bush - he would only sign if there was no money, because he's not in favor of this measure.

Liberals supporting illegals? Oh c'mon now...you would think that the libs want the Mexican vote or something.
And for those of you who compare building a wall along the border with the Berlin Wall....learn your history. The Berlin Wall was built to keep people IN East Germany. They were shot and killed if they tried to escape. The border wall is to keep criminals OUT.

This is one issue that I agree on. The fence is a short term deterrent to a long term issue. Enforce our laws and the problem will take care of itself. Without a support system IE job, medical.school, food, and housing people want come here to live. A fence Will slow down the immigration only long enough for the tunnels to be dug.

Two reasons.

1. because the more illegal immigrants that are here equals a
larger percentage of the vote they will get.

2. Because it doesn't matter if they didn't fund it or not, because
a republican is president everything falls on his head thus its
his fault for not protecting the border. You'll hear things like: "if
only he had presented a more reasonable plan we would have
voted for it."

i could say, from what I see (and might understand given your loss of punctuation), you're a surprisingly conservative individual interior the greater classic experience, yet have some "liberal" innovations besides. In as we communicate's political climate, you may probably (in case you have been to % a party out of the main significant 2) be Republican, yet with some subject concerns you may actually be prepared to artwork with the Democrats on. (What a stunning concept!)

Because the company that was hired to build the border fence hired illegals to build the fence.

Bush and crew signing that law was nothing but a show. They did not fully fund the fence they proposed building and it only covered a fraction of the border. so what's the point-- waste more money? Illegals will just go around it.

the fence project is like 500 miles worth of fence.. the border is something like 2500 miles.. what about that other 2000 miles? sure, maybe not all is easily crossed, but 2000 miles is a lot of space

I look at it like.. there are too many people coming to los angeles, why don't we just close highway 101... sure, that cuts off an artery of getting in, but there are many other ways.

If I recall wasn't there something in History that didn't actually benefit anyone with that? Oh... Yeah.... The berlin wall. Or shoot, the great wall of china. If the mexicans were coming at us with guns and trying to over-run the goverment and kill us... I can see it, but trying to work the jobs we don't want to just to get them off the ground, and hopefully get a good job and have opportunities that humans should have afforded to them no matter what country they are in? A boader wall is absurd and grandious. For anyone to suggest it is nonsense. If they want to keep Mexico from bleeding into the United States, offer enough funding to have the money go back and forth. Mexico is a dying country witha super-power to the north. You do the math.
