If the blood is bright red, it could be from a hemorrhoid that has burst. If the blood is dark red or brown, it is likely coming from the gastrointestinal tract. A lab test called occult blood is a good test for blood in stool. It helps to differentiate blood from other things in stool that may resemble blood. Example: Pepto-bismol causes stool to be darker. Either way she should visit a Dr. to be sure of what is going on.

SHE NEEDS TO SEE A DOCTOR, ASAP! Blood in the stool is serious, and can be caused by several serious illnesses. Small amounts of blood aren't necessarily dangerous, but you mentioned that she "see's a lot of blood." Your family member needs medical attention right away.

She needs to see a doctor. If it is bright blood, she may have a hemoroid or she could have torn herself down there if she was constipated. A tear can cause a lot of blood. If it is dark blood, it can be cancer or something else seriously wrong. Needless to say... go to a doctor.

Definitely needs to go to the doctor ASAP! If it is blood in her stool, it could be Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's Disease, or hemorrhoids to name only a few possibilities. She needs to go to the doctor and get checked out!

I know from personal experience that she probably has a bleeding ulcer, and needs to get to the E.R. or the doctor this instant. Those are deadly.

If it isn't a hemrrhoid, it could be a bleeding ulcer. Get her to the hospital NOW! It doesn't take long to bleed to death. My father was within minutes of bleeding to death from his. Don't wait. Go!

it could be serious, but it could be an anal fissure, where there could be a tear on her anus, I've had that before, it does cause bleeding, after each bowel movement. does it hurt for her to have a bowel movement?

If it's red blood, then she is probably straining or has hemorrhoids.. if her bowel movements are black then she has internal bleeding.
