Soldier, you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of! Thank you for fighting for all of us! Your people will be proud of you. You do not need to explain anything to them!

Tell them the truth - the military was a horrible, frightening experience that caused you to seek an escape, which you found in marijuana. When caught, the military kicked you out.

Heck, if I was COMMANDED to go get shot at and not provided with decent body armor, Id be a little scared too.

Thank you for having served our military... I don't smoke anything except the road so I don't know what to tell you about facing your family. Just be honest about it, and go on with your life. It's all you can do.

Good luck... and thank you again.

Get out from under that cloud of pot smoke and man up, or you could tell people that you got a medical deferment.

i have couple friends who got kick out of the military for the same reason. i think you should stand up for yourself and admit your wrongs and why you did it. there is reasons to everything you do in your life. if you're honest and truthful there should be less hardships and more forgiveness. a ticket out of guilt is honest.

you don't have to give everyone the dirty details. just keep it simple and short and then ask them about themselves to get them talking. try talking to your close friends and family who know what happened for more advice, and help in not having it be the center of attention.

Tell them, you had physical problems (bad knees)
you don't have to tell the truth
that's a personal issue and this entitles you to white lie
about what really happened...

Dont tell them anything. You signed up, you put your name on the line - they didn't. You don't owe anyone anything. You did two years - no one is perfect - you gave more than most.

Tell them that it is none of their damn business or that you were discharged but for personal reasons. You don't have to lie-just be discrete.
