what do you think about soft crusty bread?

I'm not a scientist, but I do make my own vegetable soup and I'm thinking maybe one or more of the vegetables you used was about to go bad and made the whole thing nasty. Either that or the combination of some of those vegetables is not a good idea chemically speaking and the chemicals from the two mixed together and changed the taste.
