Oh, and then whats next? Certain times you can eat, change the radio station (and yes, accidents have happened because someone looked away long enough to change the radio), or have passengers in the car, etc....????? Or how about the person driving down the road reading a map, newspaper, crossword puzzle, etc... Where does the legislation stop? When we need permission to blow our nose?

It's been proven that it's not the talking on the phone, but the distraction from driving. And who is not guilty of doing that? It's just that we can see someone talking on a phone and assume that if they weren't, an accident wouldn't have happened. How many times has there been an accident that involved a person talking on a phone, but was the other driver's fault. You think we see accurate statistics on accidents like this? The same set of numbers can be assembled to say almost anything you like.

All I'm saying is to think about the "foot in the door". Pass legislation for one thing and before you know it, there's ten more.

You can't legislate morality and you can't legislate responsibility either.

I am not worried about cell phones in wisconsin the real problem is all the drinking and driving that goes on the state of wisconsin should have more roadside pee stops because it is hard to pee into a beer can while you are driving

Last year, the state of Connecticut enacted a hands free driving law - that pertained only to cell phone use.

That was idiotic. The law really doesn't do it's job.

In Britain, I believe the driving offense is called "driving without all due care" and covers everything from lack of blinker, to improper cell phone use, to receiving oral sex while operating.
