Do not give antibiotics unless prescribed by a vet.

Besides it doesn't sound like a health problem, but a way to get your attention

First of all, Penicillin is an antibiotic. You should never treat an animal with any medication, unless a veterinarian advises you to. He will determine the right treatment and dosage of any medication he gives. You don't want to take a chance, and unitentionally do more harm than good to the dog.

You should never give any antibiotics unless directed by your vet.
Not only are there different ones for different bacteria, if given when not needed, it will not work when it is needed.

I wouldn't give the dog anything unless the vet says so.

No...
Dogs need special doses of medication and human stuff is more condensed. You may kill your dog by giving it the penicillin.
Your dog may need something for it's skin, too. -To help it heal.
