Here are several scriptural points for you to look up in your copy of the Bible. Hope this helps you in your search.
John 4:23, & 24:
"Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for, indeed, the Father is looking for suchlike ones to worship him. God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and truth.”
1Cor. 10:31:
“Whether you are eating or drinking or doing anything else, do all things for God’s glory.”
Matt. 7: 21-23:
“Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness."
Matt. 15: 7-9:
YOU hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied about YOU, when he said, ‘This people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me. It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines.’”
James 1: 26, & 27:
"If any man seems to himself to be a formal worshiper and yet does not bridle his tongue, but goes on deceiving his own heart, this man’s form of worship is futile. The form of worship that is clean and undefiled from the standpoint of our God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their tribulation, and to keep oneself without spot from the world".
Deut. 11:13:
“And it must occur that if YOU will without fail obey my commandments that I am commanding YOU today so as to love Jehovah YOUR God and to serve him with all YOUR heart and all YOUR soul."
Ex. 19:5
"And now if YOU will strictly obey my voice and will indeed keep my covenant, then YOU will certainly become my special property out of all [other] peoples, because the whole earth belongs to me".

I'm glad you asked this question; here is the answer, and some verses to go along with it:
God's worship is to be done in spirit (sincerely) and in truth (by the Word of God), John 4:20-24. Christians pray (1 Timothy 2:1, 1 Thessalonians 5:17), Christians give as they prosper (1 Corinthians 16:1-2), Christians take the Lord's Supper on the first day of the week, every week (1 Corinthians 11:23, Acts 20:7), Christians sing, not using intrumental music, but just sing (1 Coriinthians 14:15, Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16, Hebrews 13:15), and Christians sit and listen to some real good preaching, delivered by a male preacher (Acts 20:7).
It is also possible to worship God in vain (Matthew 15:8-9); or ignorantly (Romans 10:1-3) or practice will-worship (Colossians 2:20-23). When I say will-worship, I mean, by a lot of pomp and ceremony, like the wearing of robes, incense in those little containers, kissing rings, etc.
If you have any other questions, you can IM me.

The reason there is so much variation is because there is no scripture. I think 1989 was the first year that I ever heard of worship in a church. There is no such thing in the Bible as a worship service, and singing is never equated with worship. The first mention of worship in the Bible was Abraham walking towards Mt Moriah with Isaac and he turned to his servants and said "You remain here and I and the lad will go yonder and we will worship, and will come again to you" What was Abraham going to do on that mountain sing choruses and strum a guitar. No He was going to sacrifice. Throughout the Bible worship is always equated with sacrifice. What I am willing to sacrifice for my God shows how much my God is worth to me.
Isaiah 19:21 Thus the LORD will make Himself known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know the LORD in that day. They will even worship with sacrifice and offering, and will make a vow to the LORD and perform it.
Romans 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
Hebrews 9:9 which is a symbol for the present time. Accordingly both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot make the worshiper perfect in conscience,
This worship is a whole new thing in the church and has become an excuse for people to bring things such as you mention into the church. It is a part of the falling away that God promised in the last days.

First you must obtain ACCURATE knowledge of the one true God Jehovah to worship him acceptably. Without ACCURATE knowledge, how can we please God with our worships?
Romans 10:1-3 "Brothers, the goodwill of my heart and my supplication to God for them are, indeed, for their salvation. 2Â For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God; but not according to accurate knowledge; 3Â for, because of not knowing the righteousness of God but seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God."
This is what happen when we claim to worship God but not according to ACCURATE knowledge.
Romans 1:28Â "And just as they did not approve of holding God in accurate knowledge, God gave them up to a disapproved mental state, to do the things not fitting, 29Â filled as they were with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, badness, being full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malicious disposition, being whisperers, 30Â backbiters, haters of God, insolent, haughty, self-assuming, inventors of injurious things, disobedient to parents, 31Â without understanding, false to agreements, having no natural affection, merciless. 32Â Although these know full well the righteous decree of God, that those practicing such things are deserving of death, they not only keep on doing them but also consent with those practicing them."
For Jehovah God loves mankind so much that he holds nothing back. He gave his BEST his begotten son Jesus to redeem our sins. For Jesus, he gave his very best (HIS LIFE) in order that we may get everlasting life in paradise. Why shouldn't we give our BEST to God in return?
John 3:16; 17:3Â “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. 3Â This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."
How do we worship God? We must worship God with no hypocrisy but with ACCURATE knowledge and truth. We also want to santify God's name (not just his title) and give praise to him whenever and whereever we can.
John 4:24Â "God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and truth.”
John 17:26Â "And I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in union with them.”
Psalms 104:35Â "The sinners will be finished off from the earth;
And as for the wicked, they will be no longer. Bless Jehovah, O my soul. Praise Jah, YOU people!
Psalms 105:1-4 "GIVE thanks to Jehovah, call upon his name,
Make known among the peoples his dealings. Â 2Â Sing to him, make melody to him, Concern yourselves with all his wonderful works. Â 3Â Make YOUR boast in his holy name. Let the heart of those seeking Jehovah rejoice. Â 4Â Search for Jehovah and his strength. Seek his face constantly."
God's name is JEHOVAH. God has no beginning. --Isaiah 43:10
The Son's name is JESUS. Jesus has beginning, he was the firstborn of all creation (created by Jehovah's own hand). --Colossians 1:15,16; Proverbs 8:22.
It is Jehovah God that we should worship not his son Jesus. If we worship Jesus instead of the father Jehovah, we dishonor Jesus. When Jesus was down on earth, he told everyone to worship the only one true God (Jehovah).
