I just read through all your answers in hopes I can get some advice for I am in the same boat as you. My son is almost 3 yr old. Just has no interest whatsoever. It really IS frustrating. I started trying at 2 but nothing. I would try for a couple of weeks and then give up for awhile. Then try again. Now I am talking with him about it. I have promised him a big bulldozer (since he likes thems Lots). He says he will go potty but never does. I guess I'll just keep at it. Aargghh!
My 1st son was potty trained at 2. That was so wonderful. But not this one. He still wakes up in the middle of the night. That's another issue. Thank God I don't work outside the home...I would of been a basket case. Well I wish you good success and just smile and enjoy her. I need to tell that to myself too...LOL!

How old is your daughter if she's younger than two then give her a break and try again in a few weeks. Prepare for the potty training take her out and buy some big girls knickers, potty books are also good i have an elmo one for my son. Every time she uses that potty go mad, dance and clap and sing and jump around like a loony and a big sticker on a potty reward chart does wonders too. She will get the hang of it, do you remember what it was like to learn something for the first time, its hard. Your doing great so keep, keeping your cool and keep the praise up she'll get the hang of it in no time at all.

Has it occured to you that she's not ready yet? Words of wisdom from a friend to me once: "It's a lot easier to have to change a diaper than it is to change pants and underwear in public." My daughter wasn't potty trained until she was 3 1/2- gasp!!! Some kids are "potty trained" at a year and a half. I put that in quotes though because these kids have accidents daily or at least weekly, whereas my daughter has had maybe 6 accidents ever. She has to learn to control her bowels and no amount of anger toward her is going to change that. Instead, be patient and keep working with her. Don't expect her to magically use the toilet now. Keep her in a diaper or pull-up, but take her to the bathroom often. Don't be upset with her for failing to live up to your unrealistic expectations. When she goes on the toilet/potty, praise her but never berate her if she doesn't. Eventually she's going to want to wear Hello Kitty underwear full time, but now may not be the time.

I know it's frustrating, but imagine how confusing it is for her, trying to learn the self-control and dealing with all of the stress that you are putting on her to potty in the right place at the right time. It is true that if you give it time, she will get it down. Until then, something that makes it even easier is to throw a "party" every time she uses the potty. Make a big deal over it when she does it right, and she will eventually get it in her head that the reward for the party much outweighs not getting anything for going somewhere else. Get as creative as you can, because not all children respond the same way to potty training. Just make sure to reward her for the good work! Take care. :)

Stick with it and please don't get frustrated - she will get it soon. 2 and a half weeks is not that long really although it probably feels like it! Get a routine going where she goes on the potty very regularly - even if she does not wee every time. Also let her see other family members on the toilet or her friends on the potty so she knows it's normal. She will eventually then ask to go and will be successfully trained. Good luck

How old is she? Sometimes you have to wait up to five minutes after they eat then put her on the potty. Let her stay there untill she uses it otherwise as soon as you take her off she will pee on your floor. It take time for children to be potty trained. Just be patience with her and give her rewards when she uses it so she'll know that peeing in the potty is what mommy wants her to do. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 1/2 weeks, and you're getting frustrated? At least wait a few months to start wondering about tactics. You better cool it, or your kid's always going to think she can't please you. She's going to feel bad about herself and unloved. What are you going to do if/when she fails a spelling test or something? It took my parents almost a year to get me to go to the bathroom by myself. I didn't want to. I had this fear of being in there by myself, and I was totally embarrassed that people might know I was going to the bathroom, because I thought it was "yucky". Don't even go off about me about being an underachiever or my slow or anything or my parents not expecting enough of me. I could speak in sentences at 11 months and was intelligent way beyond my classmates all through school, and I have an IQ of 135 (140 is genius, by the way). To sum it up, potty training is no measure of intelligence and you better stop getting so mad at your daughter before she develops a complex.
