Army height/weight charts are different for those who are planning to join as opposed to those who already in the military.

The weight chart is a screening tool. Just because a Soldier exceeds the weight on the chart does not mean that Soldier is overweight. Soldiers who exceed the weight indicated for their age/height on the below chart are measured for body-fat content. If the Soldier is found to be within Army Body-Fat standards, they are not considered overweight.

Body Mass is found by taking different measurements such as neck, forearm, hips and wrist and using a formula to figure the percentage.

U.S. Army Weight Charts for Initial Accession (Joining Up) -

Males
The height/weight chart for males planning to join up can be found at:

http://usmilitary.about.com/od/armyjoin/l/blintweightmale.htm

1. If a male exceeds these weights, percent body fat will be measured.
2. If a male also exceeds this body fat, he will be rejected for service:

Age 17-20 - 24%
Age 21-27 - 26%
Age 28-39 - 28%

The height/weight chart for females planning to join up can be found at:

http://usmilitary.about.com/library/milinfo/blarintweightfemale.htm

Body-Fat standards for Army Female Soldiers are:
Age 17-20 - 30%
Age 21-27 - 32%
Age 28-39 - 34%

1. If a female exceeds these weights, percent body fat will be measured.
2. If a female also exceeds this body fat, she will be rejected for service.

I loved to play ball, and for the first time in my life, I'm actually useful, at a ballgame, instead of just a big stationary person, that maybe if the ball comes within this range, I might get it. I was wearing-I'd always wore XX kind of jersey. And then I went down to medium. And then the medium was too big, that it's coming down here.

So I'm wearing a rockin' outfit, and I'm making a play, and the guy stops, beans it in the face 'cause he says, "Look at your body. You're rockin' hard." And that was the first time I had ever gotten a compliment like that in my whole life.

It is very obvious that bumpercar was never in the military, nice answer knot head. All services do have a height and weight requirement. They also do a thing called body fat measurements. Those usually apply to someone that is in very great shape. Example you could have a male body builder who is 5'10" and his max weight is 189, but he weighs 245. They will do a body fat on him to show that he is still within standards. Good luck Big Guy!!!

If you want to join and you're boarderline, don't eat anything or drink anything the morning of the physical. If you're really overweight, perhaps you can get into a delayed entry program (DEP) where they have a lot of physical training.

But first, talk to a recruiter. They're in the phone book.

First of all, you need to pass the requirements to serve in the Army. The enlistment standards covers these subjects: Age, Citizenship, Education, Aptitude, Physical Fitness, Dependency Status, Moral Character, and Homosexual Conduct.

You can get the enlistment standards here:
http://www.us-army-info.com/pages/pdfs/enlistment_standards.pdf

You will also have to pass Army Physical Fitness Standards

military.com has a lot of resource on it. If that doesn't answer your question call your local recruiter. Depending if you are still in High school or what your plans are, a lot of the recruiters have this program that you can go to and work out and practice running to get you into shape for boot camp before you even sign up

Not for dudes. They exercised the army's famous equal opportunity program and made the female body fat standards more lenient, but not the male standards.

Assuming you don't make weight and you're under 21, your body fat percentage has to be 20 or lower.

the only requirements that have changed is age. Hight/weight and Body Fat standards remain the same.
