1. Atkins - This diet can and does result in rapid weight loss, especially when aiming to lose a quick 10lbs after the holidays. It is fairly easy to follow, and allows followers to eat many delicious foods (meat, cheese etc) that other diets restrict. There is no calorie restriction, so dieters rarely feel hungry. The intial period (2 weeks) people often feel ill. This is called induction flu and soon passes. After which people feel more energetic and enjoy improved health and weight loss. This diet is largely misunderstood, but unbiased research and personal testimonials support this way of eating.

3. Calorie Restriction - This diet is easy to understand. There is little restriction on types of food you can eat., and it leads to longer life, better health, lower blood pressure and more! Those are the Pros - the Cons are that dieters rarely feel full, you're always counting calories, and need full knowledge of the calorific content of every food! Also be careful of restaurant foods. They are full of hidden butters, creams & oils!
4. Cleansing - ! You will feel fresher, more energetic. A cleaner liver also metabolizes food faster, and sets up your body to lose weight in the long term! However, this diet is hard to stick to! You may feel hungry, tired and perhaps a little dizzy. That's why its a great diet to do on holiday.
5. Green Tea Diet - This diet is veryeasy to follow, and studies have shown its effectiveness. The health benefits of drinking Green Tea every day are more than just weight loss. On the other hand, weight loss is not as dramatic as with other diets, and of course you have to like Green Tea!
6. Low Fat Diet - The focus on natural healthy foods has other benefits, beyond just weight loss. There is really no need to count calories on this diet. Cons Giving up so many foods is not for everybody, but if your consumption of meat, fish etc is limited already, you may find it easy! Low fat diets are dangerous, because there are essential fatty acids that the body requires to function. The only fats that are bad for you are trans fats.
7. South Beach Diet - The focus on 'good carbs' and 'bad carbs' reduces the risk of heart disease. There is also no need to count calories on this diet, and you do not limit carbs, so its easier to feel full. This diet unecessarily restricts saturated fat and is therefore considered healthier than Atkins, however this is a myth...saturated fat is not dangerous at all. The body will manufacture it's own saturated fat and your bad cholesterol will go up on a low fat diet. People who eat lots of saturated fat see an improvement in their cholesterol levels. 9. #The Zone Diet - Dieters get most of the nutrients they need, as fruits and vegetables are OK! Cravings for carbs tend to disappear after a few days, and weight loss on The Zone can be very rapid!

I never called it a diet because that insinuates that once you have completed your weight loss goal you can go back and eat the same way you did before. Call it a lifestyle change. All I did was eat healthier. Less sugar and more fruits and vegetables. Also, exercise is a must. Eating healthy is hard with all the misinformation out there. I know of a family who is on weight watchers. You eat based on a point system. So far in about a month the husband lost 13 pounds. Nutrisystem is good because they send the food to you and its all healthy stuff. But it sure is expensive.

A proper diet is the best way to lose weight naturally and keep it off. You have to eat a varied adequate and balanced diet. Your body needs all kinds of food to function properly including fat in smaller quantities though. Your body needs the nutrients and vitamins in fruits and vegetables the most, that is what you should eat the most of (at least 5 servings a day). You also need protein, and a little fat. Reduce your intake of sweets, fried food and foods that contain a lot of fat. Don't drink too many alcoholic beverages or soft drinks (they have a lot of calories). Don't go to sleep right after you eat. And finally exercise at least 3 to 4 days a week for about 45 minutes.Good luck. You can also get more information about nutrition from this site:

Although there are many quick and easy ways to lose the pounds, the most HEALTHIEST combined with the most EFFECTIVE way to lose weight is by maintaining a good diet and exercise plan.

Diet:
As Oprah Winfrey stated on her show...don't eat anything "WHITE" (ex: white bread, rice, any ingredient with wheat flour, sugar)
-drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday
-in order to increase your metabolism, eat small snacks in between meals (handful of almonds, cup of fruit)
-include dark green and bright vegetables with your meals along with a small piece of baked chicken or fish
-I've also read from many different sources that eating a grapefruit with every meal is a key to lose weight fast


Exercise
-Pilates/Yoga 3x a week
-Aerobic exercise (speed walking, running..) at least 15-30 minutes a day
-Weights 3x a week

The key is to eat every 3-4 hours (meals and snacks) but in very SMALL portions (don't eat anything fried, greasy, trans fat, high saturated fat, anything WHITE, or soda)

There is no quick way to lose 15 lbs unless you go on a crash diet. I've lost that amount healthily by old fashioned cardio, weight training, and incorporating a lot of fruits and vegetables. You should also eliminate most of your sugary, fat-laden foods, and soft drinks with empty calories.

if losing some pounds of any description is what you want then I used a great website and coach who helped me. They were very friendly and gave me lots of great advice. I needed to lose 40 pounds and I did so fairly easily. The website is www.myhealthabc.com once you fill in your details then you can see the full range of products they have. The products really work and you feel great whilst losing weight, its all nutrition based.
I lost all my weight in less than three months and they have helped me to keep it off. I would definitely recommend using them, the tips you get and encouragement are excellent (their advice and time is FREE). I am still with them so I stay healthy. If you just want to buy the products and not use the coaching then you can do that aswell, there is a link in there to email them so you can tell them you just want to buy and not speak to anyone. The owners will even advise you via email on what to purchase depending on what you want to lose, my sister did it this way (she was more self conscious than me) and lost 76 pounds in less than five months. These guys are just great, try them.
