These people stomp and shout and argue day after day. Then they tell the landlord they don't yell at their kids! Today the landlord said they told her that they weren't even home that day that I complained! They were and I heard them, there was 2 of them home and then later on more.. The landlord told me to stop complaining, she wouldn't listen to anymore of it and it is frustrating for her!! What about me? She said that they told her that they lived in their last place for 10 years! I can't stop crying, maybe cause I'm pregnant, but it is hard to not be believed when you are being honest. And it is hard to be expected to live with other people screaming in your house for hours upon end on an almost daily basis.

I guess I have to start calling the police for domestic disturbance.. and now I am crying more at that thought, because I don't want to be that person that is the b-i-t-c-h-y person downstairs... what can I do?

I know this sounds childish, but it's what I would do. You said that they were below you, right? Well, just stomp around as you clean your apartment. And if the land lord comes, tell him you weren't home that day.

basically it's upt to the landlord what's to be done. BUt get a camera or something so you can record the commotion. (i say camera and not recorder cause anyone can make noise.) If the noise and yelling is happening late at night call the police file a formail complaint. And make sure that you've got the recording as well because your landlord is going to want to know why a police report was fille. Make sure you make a copy of that tape because certain things like that have a tendency of dissappearing. And just stick to your guns so long as you can prove it your landlord won't have any option but to settle the problem. IN the meantime i hate to say it i'd strongly consider looking for a different palce to move.

Can you arrange for a neighbor to come over when the upstairs people are yelling? If you have a witness that the landlord can trust, she is more likely to listen.

Right now, it is your word against theirs. If someone else hears the noise on several occasions, the landlord may pay attention to them.

If the noise is really loud or continues for a long time, then calling the police may be the best solution --they can document the noise also.

It is hard to live below someone --every noise sounds loud, every footstep sounds like a soccer game in progress! But if you can hear every word, that is way too loud!

The next time this happens try to get some proof for your landlord.. Even have someone there to witness it or try recording the noise. You can also call the police and have them come to YOUR apt. and winess it then talk to them and the landlord. If all else fails, I would think about moving out. Good Luck

Awww, that sounds awfully stressful for you. Could you go and talk to them, explain that you hope they don't mind, but you're pregnant and can hear noises from their apartment really well and could they please keep it down? Being really sincere and polite should help the situation and keep them hopefully from behaving immaturely in spite.

Also, can you go out and take art or pre-natal fitness or photography or any other kind of class during the day to get out of the apartment for awhile?

The idea of recording them and playing it to your landlord is a good one, also calling the police if they're being super obnoxious is a good idea. You should be in a low-stress, peaceful environment right now, and I hope you get it.

Good luck and take care!

If you have to call the police then call. That way it is documented when you complain to the landlord. What kind of landlord wont deal with complaints? Have you ever thought about moving someplace where the landlord cared about the tenants.

Quit crying. Take a stand and do something. Go up there and personally tell them to knock it off. Or call the cops if it's that bad. Why sit around being miserable all the time?

Who cares what they think about you? Obviously they aren't the kind of people that care what anyone thinks of them.

you can call the police and by law they are not supposed to tell who called them,so call and keep calling until they get the fu**ing point!!i want through the same thing with my neighbors next door i kept calling the police until they got the picture.you might wont to look for another place to live before that baby comes, because you are going to need all the rest you can get with a newborn baby.and try not to let that sh** get to you,you have to think about that baby you are carrying, you can't get up set it's not good for you or the baby. GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND CONGRATS ON THE BABY.
