Not really. Friends was a set in California. Not at all filmed in NYC. Sex and the City was filmed in NYC so it's some what more real. Never go by TV or movies. If so, everyone would think NYC is like an Law and Order episode!

Friends is a total fantasy that has nothing to do with real life in NYC. Sex in the City may bear some semblance to reality

yes if you have a good job. The apartment in friends was a rent stabilized one from her grandmother. Places like that exist at rents they could have afforded (but I do not know anyone with one).
