Currently, the average cost is about
$4/watt--about half what it was a few years ago. :)

so if you want a system with 1 kilowatt capacit, thats about $4000. That is a fair piece of change for most people--but it pays for itself in a few years. In addition, financing is easy to get--it is a home improvement that saves you money and improves the value of your home--banks just LOVE that!

There are a couple of othr factors to consider. first, the myth that solar isn't worthwhile except in areas like the Southwest are just that--myths. In other areas of the country they are not quite as cost-effective, due to more cloudy weather--but are still a worthwhile investment.

And--in some areas of the country (Calif, I know for sure) you can "sell" unused power back to the power company. In practice that means a credit on your bill for what power your system sends back when you aren't using it--which means you get th emaximum cost benefit, even if you're gone on vacation!

My 150 watt panels cost about $500 each.
