First of all, Microsoft is about to release a new version of Office products (Word falls into that category), upgrading the 2003 version to 2007. It's supposed to officially release at the end of January or beginning of Feburary, but you can get a 60 day free-trial download of the beta-2 edition at
http://www.microsoft.com/office/greattips/trial/default.mspx.

To find out if it is compatible with your computer check out the list of system requirements on this page:
http://www.microsoft.com/uk/office/preview/beta/sysreq.mspx

If you can't find Word 2007 packaged alone, and you probably won't, Office Home and Student 2007 would be the cheapest version of the "Office" suites. Also, if you are a student or teacher (or you have one in the house... a 5-year-old counts) you can get BIG discounts at your local college bookstore, or on-line at
http://www.academicsuperstore.com/market/market.html?category_id=244235

These discounts are about half-price, so bookmark this site!

i just took a class on word so i know pretty much everything there is to know microsoft office comes with word, excel, powerpoint, and many other useful tools but you cannot buy word separately version 2003 is the latest available but they are about to release ver. 2007 but it isnt out yet so your best bet is to purchase ver. 2003 and you can upgrade it from the microsoft website to ver. 2007 when it is available so if you purchase office 2003 you should go to walmart or amazon.com and try those if they don't have it check ebay out but i am warning you now the student and teacher ver. is $150 and that is the most basic ver. you can buy the standard is a little more but you get everything with it i would suggest standard if you need any help just contact me at blklbl1393@yahoo.com or you can instant message me!

How about MS Project instead, otherwise Word 2007 is the latest.

MS Office 2007 is the most current version, however it is expensive to buy. Open office from Sun Microsystems is a good alternative and is free.

you have to buy the office bundle, i dont think you can buy word on its own, you can buy it in any computer store , currys or PC world, but the office bundle is not cheap

You can buy it pretty much anywhere that sells software but if you want to look at a free alternative check out:

try to get a copy from one of your friends; because these programs are Spense, but if you wanted to buy go to circuit city or best buy.
