The Middle East is a hot bed because it has never been given the opportunity to evolve unmolested. Both the Middle East and Africa have had outsiders meddling in their politics for centuries because the `divide and conquer' axiom has been used and is being used to keep them off balance. As we all know, it is hard to take advantage of a united front.
Until the Crusades the Arab nations didn't have a reason to unite, they were pretty much happy with their way of life. However with the need for resources came the need for control, tribes were played against each other and bitter memories die hard, ask the Native Americans about that, they know.
As with this country, just because you have a religion that says its about peace, doesn't mean that people will not try to subvert the message for their own aims.
If we wanted the Middle East to be an equal in the world, we would have stayed out of their politics and let them work it out the way Europe, and the US have.

In one word I would say [POLITICS]
In several words I would have to say it is the media generated manufactured consensus we are all indoctrinated into believing as reality.
As well as a few extremist who pollute the minds of oppress people to doing their dirty work for them, while they stay safely hidden., The mosques who aloud this teaching of hatred is not indicative to all Muslims. Most are Law abiding citizens who just want to live in peace and harmony while keeping their faith.

You do realize that Europe was much the same during the time of the crusades, yes? I think it has to grow out; each religion has a difficult time, especially when it is God centered as there is one ideal for people to live by, when things are simplified.

Let's consider this matter another way: Why, when Christianity is the so-called "religion of inclusion," do so many self-righteous Christians deny others the love that God our Father provides?
I think there are psychos and zealots (pun) in every religion, and I think they are all dangerous and potentially violent.

When you invade a country, try to control their land, wealth, people and oil, you tend to piss people off. ANYONE would fight in this situation, regardless of their religion.
