"Believer", do you have any idea what an Atheist actually is? Obviously not because you made yourself look like an idiot.

I forget that Atheists can't be Spiritual and that people in Non-theistic religions such as Buddhism shouldn't post here either. I forget that you have to belong to a certain religion to be spiritual. I suppose you want Christian Scientists to stop studying evolution also?

Do a search, this is asked like 10 times a day.

I am a believer in humanity. As about 5 billion of the 6 billion people in the world happen to have this certain trait called 'religion', it is, of course, a matter of interest for me.

Or to say it differently, understanding religion informs and enhances my beliefs.

Plus, I like the craic.

Those of us who live in the United States understand that the First Amendment guarantee of Freedom of Religion implicitly includes Freedom FROM Religion. Another First Amendment right called Freedom of Speech allows us to espouse our views.

America is a great nation because of its diversity.

I don't consider myself to be atheist or agnostic for the matter, so if I get canned I understand, but I believe I know why atheists hang around this site if they do as you say they do.

They like to debate. In fact they are master debaters.

Go look up the definitions of both terms.

And while you're at it, go see how many times this has been asked.

Belief in a deity is not necessary to be a spiritual person.

It is very important for me to call religious people on their bullshit and also challenge them with common sense and logic. It's all religious people who make laws that affect ME, as a sane, nondeluded person. No stem cell research for me. Why? Bullshit religion. Why can't I run for office in various states? Bullshit religion. Why are all these stores closed and why can't I buy Sam Adams at the store after 6pm on a sunday? The day of the Lord, of course. Bullshit. I want you guys to know that you are deluded and your actions as religious people are affecting innocent people, like me, WHO CANNOT GET FREEDOM FROM RELIGION!!

Perhaps they feel entitled to debunk what they feel as "myths."

Because you are religious, could you honestly say that wouldn't visit a site that was entitled "Atheism?"

Buddhism is atheist, by nature, and often referred to as a "religion" and people have questions about it, therefore, I'm here.

Because I fear what religion does to impressionable minds. I also fear the laws religion wants to enact.

More than that, though, I want to spread the good news (gospel, if you will) that each and every one of you has an inner spirit which exists and can thrive on its own. Making your spirit a slave of some church might free you from thinking for yourself much as making your body a slave of some master. But how much greater could your life be if you could take personal responsibility for your own spirit.

Go in peace to love and serve the truth.
