I'm not real sure on how the entire thing works. How long does it generally take to download songs? It said that one particular song would take over two hours to download.

It depends on how fast your compter is. Some songs say they can take 2 hours and can dl in under 5 minutes. Some songs take longer. It also depends on the speed of the other person's computer & the bandwidth etc. Be careful using limewire. Make sure you have virus protection on your computer.

Limewire does work, its a good program to use to download.
It depends on the speed of your internet to how long it takes for a song to download. If you have Broadband(fast internet) it should take 2 minutes or less to download a song. If you have slow internet, i found that it took me 20 mins to download a song.
Before downloading songs, have a look at the file size, an average song should be around 5000 KB.

Gosh, that's one LONG song. The Grateful Dead maybe? Even they didn't produce a song that would take THAT long to download. LOL!!!
Seriously though, depending on how popular the song is, i.e. how many people are sharing the file, you can get 10 hosts and about 50KB/s. With 1 host, maybe 10KB/s. Say a song is approx. 5MB (depending on length and quality) then that would mean the time taken to download this song in the two cases would be from just over a minute and a half to just over 8 minutes...

well the way limewire works is it runs a peer to peer networking system that allows you to download information from other users pc's to your own. at the same time it allows people to download from yours. this said it doesn't allow users to download from anywhere on your pc so dont panic. the files and folders it uses as sources are selected by you. the song issue may be the preson you are trying to download the file from has a slow internet connection or is allowing a small ammount of bandwidth for others to use.
