Most drugs create the illusion of euphoria and / or weightlessness, thus someone started to use the term 'high' in the 60's. Same way as the drugs that create halluscinations helped coin the term 'taking a trip' and all.

Think about this when you are not high and think about why you get high! It is not a physical high. Drugs do not defy gravity! They kill your brain cells.
