Microwaves do not hurt your food, all they do is heat the food from the inside out and today's microwaves are well sealed so their is no chance of exposure. You do not even see the old signs about wearing pacemackers anymore at places that use microwaves because they are so safe. I like a microwave for heating but not for prolonged cooking although you can cook meals, I prefer an oven/slow cooker/rotisserie.

It heats the food by rubbing the moisture molecules together.
Microwaves are very deadly to living things. It is excellent to sterilize food or drink.
