Well, yeahhh, it's pretty bad, at least in my country it's. It's an offense to a woman, like saying "bbitch" (wich in Spanish could be literally translated as "perra", but means puta (whore)
"Cabrona", could be translated like that, or you could think about any other offense to women in English. Anyway, it's just an offense, and referring to males it's said "cabrón" (son of a *****, or mother ******).
But literally the "cabron" or "cabrona" derives from the "cabra" (goat)
