helped. MOst scientists, artists, explorers were Christian. Christinaity has been a source of much inspiration (paintings, etc.) and set new ground for moral laws such as ridding of former Roman/pagan human torture ( w/ lions), etc.

I can't be impartial, since I'm an ex-christian. If you're looking for totally objective opinions, you should disqualify current christians, ex-christians, and people of different religions. Otherwise, you're bound to receive biased answers.
I believe it has harmed mankind. It's a very successful virus of the mind that values obedience and blind faith over rational thought and reality. Christians have internal guilt and believe they are "sinners" from birth. How can that be good? Those who free themselves from this out-dated form of mind control value the present.
Of course, you'll receive obligatory answers from current christians. This is nothing more than the virus protecting itself with meaningless voodoo mumbo jumbo. By not questioning whether it has actually harmed or helped, the person is only giving lip-service.

Both. On the one hand, it kept things together after the fall of the Roman Empire and gave people hope, but on the other hand, it's responsible for the Inquisition, the Crusades, witchhunts and so forth.

Man in his ignorance, pride and ego has harmed himself. True Christianity was there to prevent that to live the life of Christ.

Depends on whether you believe in sin or not. If not then it has not helped you. If you believe in sin then Christianity helps you in your decisions. So it harms non believers because it tells them they are wrong and it helps believers because it gives them direction. So what's the point?
