This is a very general question, but there are jets that can go up to 200 Knots only ( 370 km/h ) and also some military jets that can go up to mach 4 which 4 times the speed of sound or about 4200 km/h.
Average passenger jets speed is around 800 km/h

The different transport aircraft I have flown typically cruised at anywhere from .76 mach to .82. In the early days of cheap fuel .84 mach in the 727 and 707 was common. But it got noisy up front at those speeds. The A320 is normally around .78 mach domestically and in the DC10 on international flights it starts off about .82 and as the plane gets lighter it gets somewhat slower. .82 mach is about 545 mph at FL350.

Well it really depends!!! At takeoff the estimated speed for a jet plane is around 450-600 MPH. It depends on its weight, amount of passengers, amount of luggage and other things of that sort.

Commercial jet aircraft fly at about Mach 0.88 -- around 500 statute miles per hour. Much faster, and supersonic flows start around some parts of the airframe, and the drag goes up rapidly. The Concorde SST flew at Mach 2, about 1300 miles per hour. It takes about three times as much fuel to fly at supersonic speed as at subsonic.

Most commercial planes cruse at about 600 mph. Military jets have traveled at several thousand mph.

Adding on to Banana's answer, the SR-71 is retired. While it is the fastest plane, the current fastest plane (still in operation) would probably be the MiG-25 Foxbat.
