If this were true, you would not need our product number.

The number is written on the cover of the manual or on the front of the original CDROM, and in big bold letters it tells you to save this product ID because you may need it if you ever need to re-install.

Even if you have lost your product serial number, you can contact Microsoft directly to arrange to obtain a replacement license key. If your product is more than a year or two old, they may charge you a re-license fee (usually just $10-20 dollars).

Anyone who is foolish enough to distribute their license on the internet or give it out to a stranger deserves the visit or call from Microsoft's lawyers afterwards.

Unless you received a hacked version of the program, you should have the back up CD's with you. The number should be on the CD. If you got it with your PC, then your PC's back up disk should have the program and number. If you threw all of it away (an unbelievably stupid move) then learn your lesson and don't do that again. Contact Microsoft with your information and they should be able to pull up your registration and give you a new number.
