Last year, at my daughter's birthday party it was the typical "force the child to sit down and open present after present" type of opening. I hated it because she really wanted to go and play with her friends and just enjoy being 2.

I don't want to repeat that this year. Ideally, I'd like to have some sort of game where she opens gifts throughout the party and it's fun for the person bringing the gift as well to see if it's theirs she'll open next. But I'm having trouble coming up with anything.

Have any ideas?

If not about a type of game, do you have experience or ideas about how to do the present opening differently?

Thanks!

Kind of like "musical chairs."
Have all the guests sit in a circle holding the present they brought. Play music and have them pass the gifts around. When you stop the music, she opens the one she is holding.

OR.....

Play a game like musical chairs or Simon Says where someone gets "knocked out" of the game each round. The person who gets "knocked out" takes their gift to her to unwrap.

It'll be different this year, she's older and actually understands the concept of "her birthday".

Maybe have the guests put their gifts on a table, and then before she opens them have her line up the presents in the order she wants to open them.

Maybe have all the guests sit in the circle holding the present they brought, and have her sit in the middle. Give each guest a piece of paper with a number on it, and have them hold on to it. Make another set of numbers and put them in a bowl and have her pick one out. She can see the number and say "Number 5!" and whoever is number 5 gives her their present to open.

Just some ideas..hope that helps :-)

Try having her open gifts from guests only at the party. Save the gifts from you and grandparents for later when she isn't so overwhelmed.

Maybe you could have a guest hide the gift when they come and let her find them. Kind of like a present hunt.

yes,
let her do as he likes, it is as creative as it gets .
What I do, is that my son opens his present as he receives it, he loves it and then he keeps playing .
