Ok_ I have dark brown hair. & I'm thinking abt working my way to blonde on top and black on bottom. But, I don't want to go straight to blonde and fry my hair. So I'm thinking abt going to lightlight brown on top and leaving my dark brown on bottom alone. Would that look bad ?

I think so, but i hate the blond on top and black underneath look. Why don't you get some nice foils, not blond but maybe a few shades lighter than your natural colour.

Leave the underside natural (dark brown) and go for the lightening up of the top - it'll look cool. And if it doesn't, if the bottom side is left natural you won't have to live with hair color as long.

no, it wouldnt look bad but if i can id suggest that you go straight to blonde. buy sum of that home coloring stuff like loreal preference or sumthing. let the blonde fade into light brown (cuz it wil) and then dye it again and do the black underneath. because if you try to "work ur way to blonde" that will fry your hair much much easier then going straight to blonde.

I work in the office of a cosmetology school and some of the students have it that way it looks good.

No I think it will look fine. Just don't go more than 2 shades above your natural hair colour if you don't want it looking weird.

I think it would look bad. A natural look always looks prettiest. Ask your stylist for some ideas. Good luck whatever you decide.
