unfortunately a cold sore is a kind of herpes. DO NOT PANIC! My sister has lived with cold sores her entire life. The only thing you can do is go to the store and buy some medicine, the best kind on the market is "Abreva". if it is bothering you, take a warm washcloth and hold it over the cold sore to prevent it from drying out your lips.it also helps to ease the little pain it gives you.

Herpes simplex virus is what produces cold sores. You can be exposed to HSV-1 just from sharing drinks, used utensils, sharing lip balm, or smooching a person that is carrying the herpes virus. They happen to be moderately uncomfortable blisters which might surface close to the lip area, or perhaps even the interior of the mouth or nostril, on your face, and anywhere on the body.

They may flare up because of increased stress and anxiety, colds, fever, low temperatures, particular foods, or perhaps an excess of sunshine. The area will begin to burn, and after that the blister will probably turn up. The sore could dry out and establish a yellow-colored crust. Cold sores may stay anywhere from 7 to fourteen days. A person can try to mask cold sores by using cosmetics, however this generally helps make it a whole lot worse.

To eliminate them, one could consider covering them with a cold sore special product, apply chapstick with sun screen, dab witch hazel, take echinacea, vitamins C as well as vitamin E, as well as totally steering clear of touching the cold sore. By simply adopting a few changes in lifestyle, it really is feasible to prevent them as well as stifle cold sores from happening again.

It going to get bigger but what I do is when I feel it at an almost invisible stage I put Abreva on it. Its about 15 dollars and if you get it early enough it wont even show the next day.

Since yours is alread big Abreva will keep it from spreading and it should last for about 2 days after you put it on there. You can get Abreva anywhere.

If you dont have any money the guy above me is right, Pop it and then put rubbing alchol on it and it will stoo the spreading but make sure the juice doesn't get on any other part of your lip or it will spread and wash hands.

Zovirax (acyclovir) cream has worked great for me for years. You apply it at the first hint of a cold sore and reapply a few times a day and it prevents it from becoming big and ugly. It's prescription so you have to ask your doctor. I'd get a tube and just keep it on hand because you need to treat it right away to be effective. You can use the Zovirax pills too I think - but that always seemed like overkill.

An amino acid called L-Lysine may be taken by mouth or applied in a cream; both are readily available in the vitamin section of any store that carries that stuff...Abreva will help cut short the time as will zovorax(prescription mentioned already) The L-lysine works well if you have recurring bouts or for things like shingles(another form of Painful longlasting herpes that may happen under stress in people that have had chicken pox)

L-Arginine is found in amounts that are too large in people with active herpes...the L-lysine helps the body rebalance itself thus eliminating the herpes...til next time...

These are contagious so do not kiss anyone and do not share drinking glasses or other eating utensils. Wash your hands well with soap and water anytime they are near your face so you don't spread it to someone else. You can try abreva over the counter cold sore balm but this is only a help. To really treat it the best if it bothers you the doc has to prescribe an antiviral med for it.

Surprisingly, the reply that I discover so much useful to that query is plenty extra sensible than folks are making it, no offense, however what I do (the bloodless sore must be long gone inside part an hour) is get a cotton change, drench it in water, then upload as a lot salt as viable till the water not absorbs it, then (and that is painful) rub it violently (do not pass nuts) towards the bloodless sore.

go get abriva cold sore cream. Dont pick at it and keep a warm wash on it several times a day. That will help drain it so it can start scabbing over.
