who really cares if someone else disagrees or puts it down, it's YOUR belief and thats all that counts in the end right?

People can have all the personally held beliefs they want. I don't mind. What DOES bother me is when people let these personal beliefs sit behind the wheel when it comes to making political and legislative decisions. The ideally secular law controls MY life as well as the lives of everyone else living in this country. It's utterly unconstitutional to allow specific religious doctrine to control what I can and cannot do.

Forcing people to accept some particular idea or adhere to behavioral standards from someone else’s religion means that their religious freedom is being infringed upon. As far as I can tell, this country still supports religious liberty and a constitutional separation of church and state... so while everyone obviously has the right to believe as they see fit, they do NOT have the right to impose those beliefs on me through our legal system.

Is that what you believe? It doesn't matter what people believe because it's all the same in the end?

If I believe 2+2 = 7 is that o.k.? Many people today would respond, "Well if you want to." because they wouldn't want to hurt my feelings and does it really matter? Not unless I'm an accountant. But let's say I'm driving down a road and someone coming the opposite way flags me down and stops me and says, "You need to turn around because the bridge up ahead is out due to flooding! And the river is rising at a rapid rate and we need to get out of here!"

But I tell them I don't believe him and he starts getting all upset. I take that as him being controling and trying to force his beliefs on me so I ignore him, maybe flip him the bird and continue on down the road to my death. In the end, was the only thing that mattered that I believed what I believed?

We do get riled up. Why? Because we are warning people who refuse to listen to the upcoming dangers they will face if they don't change direction. And others get rilled up because they think we are trying to control them.
There is absolute truth and there are consequences to our beliefs and choices based on those beliefs. Not everything we believe is a matter of life and death but some things are.

Ha ha, I go around complaining on boards where people put Bible quotes and things that make Christianity sound like a religion for airheads.

I think it is becuase some posts meant to glorify a certain religion end up making it look stupid. Both the religious and the non-religious may be insulted by these posts.

When people have strong convictions about beliefs, other that have differing beliefs sometimes feel threatened that possibly they could be wrong. This should not be a threat however, but an opportunity to test what one beliefs, against credible evidence.

I hear ya! Most people feel it's necessary to put their opinion on others even when it wasn't asked for. That's a sign of ignorance.

We have the right to share our opinions and beliefs, but who gave these people the right to insult others because of their opinion? I just don't know?

Because it comes down to being human. And unfortunately humans have flaws. And one major one is that they like to be right. They forget that opinions are neither right or wrong - they are just that - opinions of what works for each individual. Instead they try to make their opinion the "only" right one. i'm guilty of that myself. Great question though, and too bad more people can't think like that.

Seems like many people aren't happy just dealing with their own personal problems but feel a need to get involved in others personal business as well.

Personally, I'm rather sick of being told what I can and can't do concerning my own body.

I think lots of people are arguing with themselves over their own beliefs and are desperately seeking others that share their views and then get upset when they find people saying things they are too afraid to hear.

That's where human ego takes over. This forum doesn't appear to discuss religion or spirituality much but has sunk to the level to decide who is right and who is wrong.

Maybe it feels like someone is trying to take what belongs to them away. And we all need to appreciate how they feel. I do respect their feelings! According to the Bible we will be buffed from time to time. And we need this for our growth in what we believe in. We all help one another to grow in one area or the other. I always pray that I will be an asset to someone here. I don't ever want to hurt someone intentionally. God bless.
