When my sixteen year old daughter was born, we had a 2 year old male cat. He was protective of her, but not to the extent that you're experiencing. We lived in a 2 story townhouse at the time, so we had a bassinet upstairs and a stroller/carriage combo downstairs. My cat would go floor to floor looking for her. When he found her, he would lay down in the floor underneath the stroller or bassinet. Sometimes, he would hop up on a near by table and peek in, just to make sure she was OK. But, he would never go in with her. I'm in agreement with a previous poster that your cat will grow out of this as baby grows and gets more mobile and curious. I also agree with another previous poster about the baby smothering, etc....all urban legends. Until baby gets bigger, I would remove him every time you see him in the crib with baby and tell him, "No!". Eventually, he should get the message.

Let him grow out of it on his own. When the baby is less dependent/has more mobility/starts to 'play' by pulling tail and fur, your kitty won't feel the need to protect the baby further.
I believe that "cat suffocating baby" is an urban legend, "cat mauling baby" is ridiculous and "cat hair harming baby" is unfounded. Nevertheless, always use care when exposing an animal to a baby--you never know what could happen, but don't be intimidated by alarmist notions about your pet.

That's cute but I think it would be best if you kept the cat away from the baby, especially as Tigre is super protective. It would be an issue of the baby's health and safety.

the reason the cats are all over your baby and in the crib is because of the smell of milk on there mouths therefore the cats like to lick the babies mouth which can somehow cause suffocation,,,,havent you heard that you are not supposed to have cats around babies and also the feces of the cat just the smell can be deadly for a newborn

cats are bad for babies nobody tell you that if your baby eat ahair of your cat she would get sick and she would be in dangerous. So just take youe baby away from that cat and I'm not been ugly with you but that's the reality so if you love your child do what I'm telling you ,so you decide what to do.
