I'm having an outdoor ceremony this summer. I wanted to have an aisle runner, but the ceremony will take place on grass..Does that seem ok for an aisle runner? I originally wanted a red carpet at first but they seem to be sooo expensive in VA. Im afraid that my heels will poke right through the aisle runner. Any ideas or know of a specifc kind of aisle runner thats heel proof.

Cut and lay down plywood, and put runner over it.

I had an outdoor wedding and used rose petals to outline the aisle... It looked wonderful but I chose to not wear skinny heels in fear that they would sink into the grass. If you must have a runner definitely get the guys to make a trip to lowes to get plywood. Wrap the plywood with the runner and use a staple gun to staple it to the bottom of the plywood (so the staples can't be seen). I wouldn't do that until the day of the wedding at the wedding location so it doesn't get dirty or damaged transporting it.

Personally, I wouldn't use an aisle runner for an outdoor wedding. I'd just use rose petals or another type of flower petal. You could use those white rope lights and line both sides of the aisle that way, if it's an evening wedding. The plywood idea is kind of expensive if you don't have another use for the plywood after your wedding is over.

honey best advice i can give you is if you are wearing heels don't do it. i used runner for my outdoor on the grass wedding and i about fell on my face every time i took a step my heels dug down into the grass and caught on the runner by the time i was all the way down the isle it looked like someone took a bee bee gun to my runner from all the holes that the heels put in it. good luck what ever you decide.

My friend had an indoor wedding and her heel went right through the aisle runner....she tripped. Do yourself a favor, don't have an aisle runner at all.

Instead of having an actual runner, try using candles in hurricans or votive holders to light your pathway simulating a border to a runner, or you can use silk flower petals to create a border once again giving an illusion to a runner.

What if you instead outlined the aisle in flowers? That would go with the outdoor theme too.
