I plan to buy a car in a few months. well, I dont know if I should get a Toyota Avalon, Lexus es350, and Lexus Is350. Those cars have good brakes and powerful engines. I would like to know what is different from double wishbone and Macpherson strut suspensions.

The McPherson strut uses a combination spring and shock that is solidly mounted at the top and attached to the axle at the bottom. It became popular as it weighs less and is cheaper to build. The double wishbone suspension uses four different attachment points to the body and two at the axle to articulate more freely and provide a better ride.

Macpherson Strut Vs Double Wishbone

A Macpherson strut is a cylinder design that sort of hangs the shock from the spring in a single cartridge. Simple design and takes up less space under the hood, but performs less well and costs more to replace the entire cartridge and not just the shock itself.

A double wishbone means that each wheel is held by two arms with a shock in between. Better design, more rugged. Since more space is needed, and it is more complex, you see this on lots of truck designs, but not that many cars.

I think F1 's are the testing ground for all research and development. They have been there long ago and have been tried and tested.
