Organic (for fruits and vegtables) just means that no pesticides were used on the plants. As for organic being better than non-organic, I'm not really sure. I do know that organic will empty your bank account faster than non-organic due to the inflated cost of organic foods!

organic means that the foods were grown on untainted land no harsh chemicals like pesticides or fertilizes were used they also dont contain preservatives.
but the thing you should really know is that (most of) these foods have been genetically altered to produce quality fruits and veggis. This means that the actual plants can secret there own pesticides as well as the gene that encodes for rot is removed so they don't produe the chemical that causes fruit and veggis to ripen.
it's like they don't spray on the chemicals the plant just makes them it's self so really theyre pretty much the same as non-organic.
I think advertisers have misused the word organic in alot of these situations.
As long as you keep fresh fruits and veggis in your diet you'll be ok. And your kids too

From a nutrition standpoint, some of the other users answering this question may be correct. However, in light of the fact that organic foods are grown without the use of hormones, pesticides, and other chemical enhancements, I feel that they are better for you in the long term. I find it ludicrous that food processed the way it's supposed to be is more expensive, but I guess that's the American way for ya'.

There will always be health warnings aimed at children, they know parents always fall for it.
Organic food is tastier, especially potatoes, carrots and apples. I tried cucmber and broccoli, but the difference wasn't as noticeable.
Organic food also had no pesticides and are therefore healthier. But you should wash all fruit and veg before eating to with the purpose of removing residual pesticides. Some people lead to to believe food should be scrubbed, maybe they are right.
overall organic food is healthier, tastier and better for you.

Well everyone says that organic food is better- and it is.
Do you know why?
Because there are lots of chemicals in those food and if you you eat too many of 1 kind of chemicals you will get sick. Like, you might change your way of digesting the food if you eat a certain chemical ( I don't remember the name). For example, when you go to the bathroom, you are getting rid of chemicals (which is good). Usually, after eating lots of sweets, you'll get sick- do you know why? I'm pretty sure you know the answer. I think it's chemicals. OK, if I get carry ed on I could talk forever. I'll stop here!

That depends on what you are looking for.
Organic foods are free of pesticides and herbicides that are found in most if not all other non-organic foods.

We would not willingly swallow a cup of amonia but we eventually manage that if not more with regular foods.

My experience has been that organic taste better, fresher and leaves me with no guilt about what I just put in my mouth!

If you are concerned about cancer running in your family then I would strongly reccomend organic to help your body manage the risk.

No nutritional difference - and potentially very little taste difference.

But - if the pesticides and herbicides are not used then you are ingesting less chemicals and less chemicals are being used for farming and finding there way into the water ways and affecting wildlife.

When I get a chance I go for organic, unfortuneately the cost difference sometimes makes this difficult

The problem with non organic foods is the amount of chemicals used on them which can't be good for you so for me i go for organic when i can.

It just depends whether you like your vegetables knobbly or perfectly formed?

Organic is good if you grow it yourself, otherwise don't worry. These days the air that you breathe can cause health problems, we just have to be sensible about what we worry about.

Eat healthy and exercise, enjoy life and your Children.

THE BASIC PROBLEM WITH NORMAL FARM LAND IS THAT ONLY VERY BASIC CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS ARE USED TO CREATE FOOD CROPS DUE TO COST----YEARS AGO FARMERS WOULD TAKE MANURE AND SPREAD IT ALL OVER THEIR SMALL FARMS--PUTTING BACK A WHOLE SPECTRUM OF NUTRIENTS & TRACE ELEMENTS MAKING A BETTER FOOD PRODUCT......TODAY FARMS ARE GETTING LARGER & LARGER---NO MANURE---NO TRACE ELEMENTS, NO THINGS WE DON'T EVEN NOW FULLY UNDERSTAND.....LARGE FARMS PUT ONLY NITROGEN --POTACH--& PHOSPHOROUS IN DIFFERENT COMBINATIONS EVERY THING ELSE IS NOT THERE......BACK IN ABE LINCOLN'S DAY THEY WOULD COMPLETELY DEPLETE THE LAND --PUTTING BACK NOTHING TO A POINT THAT ABOUT EVERY 10 YRS.OR SO THEY HAD TO MOVE ON BECAUSE THE CROPS WERE COMING IN WEAKER & WASHED OUT.....THE BIG FARMS USE A STRIPPED OUT BASIC-3 AND GET BEAUTIFUL VEGETABLES WITH THAT ARE HOLLOW-NO TRACE ELEMENTS ( WHICH COULD BE AS HIGH AS 50 DIFF. ELEM.) WHAT IS PUT IN IS ALLYOU GET-- NO MATTER HOW BEAUTIFUL OR HOLLOW.....MANURE WHICH A LARGE FARM WILL NOT USE IS MAKING SMALL FARMS THRIVE WITH NUTRITIONALLY BETTER TASTING FOOD....WHEN THE AM. INDIANS TAUGHT THE PIONEERS HOW TO PLANT CORN IN THE EAST---THEY ALWAYS PUT A PIECE OF FISH IN EVERY HOLE WITH 1 OR 2 KERNELS OF CORN TO SUCCESSFULLY GROW THE GRAIN......IF YOU ARE ONLY MONEY MOTIVATED AND A VERY BIG FARMER----YOU JUST DON'T CARE---IF IT'S HOLLOW SO WHAT--I GET PAID THE SAME....ENOUGH TO MAKE AN INDIAN CRY.............WATER SOAKED--.HUMAN STANDING SEWAGE ( WHERE E-COLI COMES FROM ) IN A FIELD IS NOT THE SAME AS EVENLY SPREAD DRIED OUT ANIMAL FERTLIZER.....FULL OF NUTRIENTS............
