At what point do couples need to do a registry? Also, do you need to do two seperate ones for the Bridal Shower and Wedding? Where would be some good suggestions to have one (Michigan)?

It's a good idea to register about the time the invitations go out, or a little sooner. I don't think you need separate registries for the bridal shower and wedding.

It's best to let the word-of-mouth spread the news about where you are registered, or if you have a wedding website, you can add the information there. I think it's tacky to include a note about your registries in your invitations.

The best places to register are the ones that have a good range of product and pricing. I would recommend Bed, Bath & Beyond, Target, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, and Home Depot (for gift cards). A few of the above also have online stores for those who do not live nearby.

I recommend registering with at least two to give your guests some options. Also, keep in mind a lot of the stores offer you a discount on anything remaining on your registry list.

Congratulations to you, and I hope this helps! :)

What gift is given is obviously the choice of the giver and anything chosen should be graciously appreciated. Now, that said, if you buy something from the registry you will be guaranteed a few things: 1. The gift is something they wanted. 2. It is something they like. 3. No one else has bought it for them, because once a gift is purchased off of the registry, it is removed by the computer system or marked as already purchased. This ensures that the couple doesn't get duplicates. While kitchen gadgets and small appliances may seem boring to some people to give as a gift, these are things the couple needs to set up a new home together. They'd probably be really excited to get them. They registered for them for a reason. If you have something in mind you would like to get for the couple that is personalized or something you think they may have overlooked on their registry or whatever, then by all means dear purchase that gift. But don't fear that if you buy them kitchen utensils or bed linens from their registry that they won't like it. Remember that those are things they wanted. Typically, where I'm from, the registry is set up mostly for the shower. That's why they include the information for the registry in the shower invitation. Such information should not be included in the wedding invitation. Your choice of gift, however, is entirely up to you. Good luck and have fun at the shower!

Well you should register at least 10 months prior to your wedding.

You do not need to have separate registries. You can just have one for your Wedding. Your bridal shower should be just between your friends and some cool relatives that you might have and they are suppose to give you lingerie (can't spell) or something sexy. you get my point. So no need for a registry there.

As for some suggestions on where to go for the bridal registry: Macy's, Bed Bath and Beyond or Linen and Things.

Goodluck

Your bridal registry is for both, most people give money as gifts when they come to a wedding, but some will still buy gifts for both occasions. Once you are engaged you should register as least 9 months before the actual wedding date. Some people like to give Engagement gifts so doing this can help someone who isn't sure what to get you.

Depending on what you looking to get most registries are done at stores that people can buy the couples gifts for their home. You can register at Fortunoff, Bed,Bath & Beyond, Linen's N Things, Target, Pier one, Macy's, Bloomingdales.... places like that. Just to make things easier for yourself and your guests register at least with two different stores. And range your gifts at different prices ranges so everyone can afford to buy you something depending upon what they can afford.

We registered about 7-8 months before the wedding. We added things here and there along the way. You only need one registry for both the shower and the wedding. You can register online which is easiest these days. People can order things for you and the stores ship them directly to your home! It's so much easier for the guests too they don't have to bring the gift to the wedding. Register at Macys.com, Target.com, BedBathandBeyond.com I don't know if you have those stores there but you can still register online with them. Oh you can also register at Amazon.com! My husband and I registered at 4 places so that people had their choice for what is easiest or closest to them to go to with a wide variety and big price range. Hope this helped!! Good luck!

most department stores have bridal registries, You should do one early because it is easier for those who are planning your shower. Anything not purchased for a shower can be purchased for your wedding. I know that you can make your register online.

You do one registry, and that is used for the wedding, showers, etc. You need to do it a couple months in advance of your first shower.

A couple months before the wedding, and you just have one registry, but you can register at multiple places. Macys, bed, bath and beyond, pier one, really anyplace that suits your style.

we registered about 5 months prior to our wedding. We have 2 months to go and still havent gotten anything but a toaster that my aunt gave us for christmas! I'm having my first shower in 3 weeks, and I expect things to start coming off in the near future. I would say just get it done before you have showers and send out invites! you do not need 2 separate ones, just register for everything you want on 1 and you can go to as many stores as you please!

What helped us the most when we registered was that we made a list of all the stuff we needed before we went. We knew walking into the store how many place settings we wanted of our china, what china we wanted, same with stemware and flatware. I reccomend going ahead and scouting out patterns for your big stuff like that and having your mind set on what you want when you go to zap it all...I know I personally changed my mind constantly on the stemware, but I finally made up my mind, and I'm glad I didn't register until I knew what I wanted, and I'm glad I didn't just make an on the spot decision, your stuck with this stuff forever if you don't like it! It was so much easier to go down our list when we were running around zapping than it would have been to try to remember everything! once we got our list out of the way, then we went and zapped all the cool fun stuff we wanted! I promise, it may sound a little type-A anal, but it really does help!

As far as where to have one, Do you have belk in your area? Sadly in MS where I am, thats about as nice as it gets, so thats where all my china, stemware, flatware, etc is at, then we went to wal-mart and registered for mostly kitchen appliances and stuff like vacumn cleaners. Everybody goes to walmart and they can just pick us up a present while they get their shopping done! Also, we are registered at a little down-town boutique kinda store that has homey stuff
