married? This has doubled in recent decades. Are we heading toward a trend where marriage will be the exception, rather than the rule? And, what are churches doing about this? Are they accepting it as a normal evolution of humans and their religious beliefs?

Not everyone "should" get married. Jesus taught about this issue in the book of Matthew.

The apostle Paul also spoke on this issue.

Too many church doctrines use the biblical references to condemn the woman in the relationship and forget to mention the man's sin. I think it is a direct reflection of actual society behaviors. Because of a lack of respect or security at home, and the workplace, women feel that they can be spiritual but not religious and still feel full filled. This is a larger issue than people really want to know about. I think this could actually bring down Christianity or separate it much further than it is already. Churches must stop trying to force a 2000 year society on to people and acknowledge that parts of the bible are incorrect or were based and misquoted solely upon the moral consideration of that time.

I worked with this technology a little, and I can answer a couple questions that have been raised: 1) Why not use fingerprint? - With the palm reader, nothing gets touched, you just hover your palm above it. With a fingerprint reader, people touch it, which requires cleaning and spreads germs. 2) Why not use retina scan? - not 100 percent sure on this one, but I'll guess that positioning an eye for a retina scan takes longer than hovering a hand over a vein reader. I do know that a dead/severed hand cannot be read, but maybe a removed eye could be. Not that people will go to those extremes for a meal, at least I hope not...

Marriage has been on the decrease for some time mainly because of the changing times with women working, etc.. They are not as likely to put up with a man's (crap) authority since they are no longer trapped by the heretofore "wifely" chores of home and parenthood. The divorce rate has also increased rapidly as a result of this phenomenon. I can't speak for all churches, but the one I attend teaches traditional marriage. It is true that it is more dufficult to maintain a marriage nowadays, but it is still possible. I am a guy and I realize that too many times we drive our women to resort to extreme situations including divorce. Decisions not to get married, I think, are generally derived from a bad experience in earlier life such as a broken home caused by divorce. The world has changed, but we should not ignore the Bible teaching of marriage as the proper way to go. We just have to adapt to the changing times and keep our eyes on God's perfect plan. Some churches no doubt will accept these living arrangements, but they are and will not be condoned in the Bible. It is up to all of us, men and women alike, to learn to make marriage work.

Your facts are wrong. The report says that 51% of women are living without a spouse. This does not mean that they choose not to get married. The report also stated that the majority of women who live as single Moms are African American. Men are not going to marry a woman because she is pregnant anymore. Many men walk out on their families as well. We are raising generation after generation of children who have 1)No father present and 2)a mother who either works her butt off and is never there or who is on welfare and continuing to get pregnant again and again ......ignorance breeds ignorance. It is not the job of any church to "do something" about this. It's time for people in our society to grow up and be responsible for their own actions.

Please re examine the wording of the study and you will find it is that 51% of women live alone, without a man. Since women live longer than men a good part of that is due to the length of widowhood. Divorce is also more common now in women 50 and over. That would usually mean that since the men are older than their wives, there are a lot of men who are looking for a last shot at youth at the expense of their older wives. I would like to see the church do its best to reach and teach men how to live like true Christians and not leave all the "good-doing" to the women.

Churches seem to "tickle the ears of followers nowadays, there is a religion for everyone and every lifestyle. The churches are tolerating homosexuality, covering up child abuse and permitting fornication, so of course they have already accepted this.

Jehovah is God and therefore he has the right to set guidelines for humans to live. The Bible is his inspired word, and it should be the main focus on how we live our lives and not trends or pew filling quotas. The Bible says that these things are wrong, and if you discount what God's written word says, what basis do you even have for faith?

Honestly?

It is getting to place where marriage will be irrelevant. It will simply be a contract that two people agree to live together and be protected by law. It will be stripped of any religious value.

The church, I don't think can do anything about it quite frankly.

Obviously not everyone is a Christian. But you're asking the wrong person. What does God think of it ? If you can find this out, many more of your questions will be answered as well.

That's not what the study says. Many of the 51% of women who live alone are widowed, divorced, or who knows what else.
