71.8% according to the 2001 census :)

I was actually really shocked by this, I'd have thought it would be much lower!

While a larger number of people will quote their religion as Church of England etc. The number of practising christians is around 4-6%. This means that a far lower proportion of UK citizens are brain dead compared to the 33% in the US.

A practising Christian is presumably one who hasn't yet got it right. So that would account for all those who regularly attend Church, since followers of Christianity believe that Jesus was the only true Christian.

depends what you mean by practising. Regular church attendance is around 4% and belief in a personal god is just over 50% though its not necessarily the Christian god.

And a census form forces you to tick a box, other surveys that put the figure at around 50-55% are more reliable.

it fairly is stressful to declare. maximum British human beings have an association to the church, besides the undeniable fact that do not evaluate themselves to be Christians. in actuality, purely 35% of British human beings have self belief in God, something are Atheist or Agnostic. i could say purely in actuality approximately 20% are Christians, or maybe much less.

U.K. claim 75%, as does the U.S., but we know that the U.S. does not have 75% attending churches.
