You don't until you interact with them. There is no set time period or checklist that you can follow. The best thing you could do is to see if he meets your criteria in what you expect from another person. If they meet your basic principles, like they are open and honest, then you build on that. Eventually you'll know that this is someone you want to spend your life with.

you know what whether u r lookin 4 a friend or a lover, in all cases rules are the same, it shud be a person with whom u can relate , someone with a similar background as yours, interests like urs and morover when u meet a right person ur inner instincts guide u n tell that he is the one!!!!

when i knew i found someone right for me it was because of how comfortable we were together. we could sit and look into each other's eyes in silence without feeling awkward and we could talk for hours without running out of anything to talk about and felt like we could tell each other anything.

its true, you do just know. if you can hold their hand and feel that everything is alright and be 100% comfortable, then you know you got something. if you look into their eyes and are thinking of anything negative or something other than i love you to death, then all you got is a crush
