I think that it largely depends on the time of year and the availability of labor. Woodchucks are able to chuck more wood in the Spring due to the large amounts of little chucks being born (a little known fact: woodchucks use child labor to cut their costs). Surprisingly, production goes down in the Summer due to the greater amount of labor that it takes to remove the leaves from the wood before chucking it. The best, and most productive, season for woodchucks is the Winter, when wood is abundant, easily chucked, and has that piquant winter tang. It all really comes down to supply and demand, after all, woodchucks have to make a living too.
