I live in KY and I'm 20 years old, my insuracne is nearly $300. a month. My question is, how old are you and how much do you pay monthly for your auto insurance?I feel like $300 a month is pretty high, its more than my car payment and I have a brand new car!?
thanks in advance:)

yes I know being 20 and new car will be the cause for high auto insurance, but friends my age that are also females do not have as high insurance as i do. I have had no tickets and no wrecks. Completely clear record. I just got my new car 2 weeks ago, before that I had a 1998 car, my insurance only went up $10. a month. So new or old car, its still high compared to others in my area.

There are hundreds of variables that go into a rate - you can't compare yourself and you car insurance to someone elses.

Location, the car itself, credit, age, gender, marital status (yeah, you get the picture). If you are feeling you pay too much, contact a local agent who works with a lot of other companies to do some shopping for you.

And you answered your own question really. You are 20, which translates into high rates, and you have a brand new car, which translates into even higher rates. If you happen to be male, that makes the rate go up too. It will lower as time goes by, unless you get any tickets or at fault accidents. Frankly your rate sounds low to me. Ask some of the 20 year olds in Los Angeles what their rates are.
