Even though OTC medication is "relatively" safe never consume more than indicated on the label. If the indicated dosage is not adequate for your need..sleep...ask your pharmacist what might be a better sleep aid. One popular OTC is doxylamine or Unisom, one brand name.

I know benadryl causes drowsiness and thus it would be logical to take the RECOMMENDED dosage. If you are only planning on doing this and not planning on taking Benadryl to help you sleep as a habit, it won't hurt this one time. However, I would highly recommend you try to sleep without the use of ANY drugs. Drugs, sleeping pills included, tend to mess up sleep patterns in individuals, especially if used on a regular basis. If you are having trouble getting to sleep, there are LOTS of simple ways to encourage sleep. Here are a few: Eat bread and milk, take a long hot shower and just focus on relaxing, read a book, or just do WHATEVER relaxes you best.

If you have insomnia, go to a doctor. You MAY get referred to a psychologist if necessary. Sometimes insomnia can be caused by some form of anxiety. Relaxation is very helpful, but like I said...if you have insomnia, go to a doctor. Otherwise, if you just have a little trouble getting to sleep here and there...try doing what I said in the previous paragraph.

I hope at least some of this helps either you or someone with the same problem. Good luck! :)

Benadryl is very safe to take, but only according to the label guidelines. Never ingest more than 2 tabs at 1 time! I also use this product 2 help with my insomnia, however the maximum tabs 2 take within a 4 hour time frame is 2!

yes. read the label. benadryl is not a sleep medication, and taking three would constitute "overdose."

try cutting out (or cutting back) on the amount of caffeine & sugar that you ingest during the day, and get 30 to 40 minutes of aerobic exercise per day (think brisk walk) and that should make it much easier to sleep at night.

Check the STRENGTH of the Benadryl. If' you're taking Three 12.5 mg's tabs... yes that's okay... but if you're taking Three 50 mg tabs.... NOT Good, and not recommended. Benadryl will also dry up your mouth, nose, sinuses because it's an antihistamine.

It can very easily become a bad habit. Ya know what I suggest? Melatonin. It's a natural sleep aid, and it works really good with 2 Benadryl. Did for me, anyway.

Not three. At that dose, it will have the opposite effect on you and hype you up big time.

Take 25-50 mgs. at the MOST.

I have to take four...

You would just have to look up the toxicity level of dipenhydramine per your body weight and take it from there.
