Do you think he will start calling it by it's proper name: Soccer.

Do you think Posh had anything to do with the decision, her wanting to be a movie star and all?

What is proper is debatable depending on what nation one is living in. As long as he's living in the US, then yes, he might as well call it "soccer." As to Posh, I think her chief input regarding his decision was the sheer bliss of trying to figure out how to spend the 250 million dollars he's going to make on the deal.

I am somewhat excited about Beckham, even if critics say he is past his prime. Irrespective of that, if anyone can get Americans to watch soccer, it will be Beckham.

The only ones excited about this is the newspapers & television stations. I personally have absolutely no interest in the Beckhams or in Soccer.

Beckham has no reason to come to L.A.---but to become a movie star. I think it's obvious he's going to get into the movie industry one way or another...there are rumors he's going to become some kind of "action star".

There was a time not too long ago when a young star of another (nationally) underrated sport willingly traded himself to Los Angeles to market that sport to the US but failed. I think he goes by the name of Gretzky.
