LCD's currently have higher resolutions than plasmas. I would recommend you look at LCD's first but be aware that there is still the problem of the slight blurring you get when watching fast moving scenes.

I would suggest going with LCD simply because LCD is more reliable than plasma. Plasma has problems with burn in and the lifespan on a typical plasma television is a lot shorter than that of an LCD (a plasma screen will last roughly 5 years). The biggest problem you will have with an LCD is dead pixels and those are hardly noticeable so long as you're not right next to the television.

LCD all the way. I know that plasmas have a reputation for burning out over time, but LCD uses less energy. I recently bought a sony '32 high def LCD tv. I use it for watching tv and console gaming.

i have a 42" lcd.

from what i understand when the bulb on a plasma tv goes out the set is toast. finished. you have to purchase a new one. i don't know how long this process takes but it didn't sound good to me. i have a friend that had theirs for 4 years and now, poof. they need a new one.

however, we have had out tv for 3 1/2 years. the bulbs are supposed to last approximately 10,000 hours. well, we have had the bulb replaced 3 times now. the last one only had 500+ hours on it. on the upside, we purchased insurance when we got it so they have all been replaced for free. they come to the house and fix you up. no problems. i will say that when the warranty is up we are going to get a new one (with insurance) and sell this one.

in conclusion, whichever way you go, i highly recommend getting their insurance for it. the bulbs for our set cost $400 and then whatever the guy charged to install it. they are very sensitive and have to be put in by a professional. so....

HAVE A GREAT DAY
