I'm not going to get into the debate of Mac vs. Windows, because honestly it depends what sort of things you use computers for. If you're into graphics, you're going to want to use a Mac. If you're a gamer, you're going to have more gaming options for a Windows machine. If you just do basic puttering (checking e-mail, websites, word processing), then either one will do.
I do a little of all of the above, and plan on getting a Mac that can dual-boot with Windows. Then i can do my gaming on the Windows side and my graphics on the Mac side, and my puttering on either side.
Windows machines tend to be cheaper, because they can use hardware from any vendor. Mac hardware is all proprietary. You cannot truly build your own Mac (unless you are an Apple certified tech), but building your own Windows machine is relatively easy. You can put a good Windows machine together for around $600, last i checked.
Price-wise, Macs have always been (and probably always will be) more expensive.
The Macintosh current operating system is version 10.4, aka Tiger; 10.5 is due out sometime this spring and has the code name Leopard. It's very user friendly, but oftentimes confusing for people who are more used to the Windows operating system.
The most recent Windows operating system is XP, but they're working on the next one: Vista. Vista is an incredibly hot topic amongst the geekier crowd, but seems to be eagerly anticipated by non-technical types.
When getting into the minute differences between each operating system, the list can go on a very long time. In order to go into those sorts of details, i would need you to narrow your question down just a wee smidge.
There =are= (contrary to popular belief) Mac viruses out there. There are certainly less of them, and unlike Windows viruses, most Mac viruses are kinda like getting caught dancing with your sister: it's embarrassing, but there's no real harm done. There are LOTS of WIndows viruses, and some of them even have the potential to do physical harm to components of your computer.

The ease in upgrading software and hardware on a Mac is far superior to any PC. The PC theory of "plug and play" is nothing more than a farce. I have never seen a PC have any type of hardware upgrade without a major fiasco ensuing- no matter what brand CPU or hardware you are installing on it. With most programs available on both platforms, the stability of the Mac OS and the relative safety from viruses on the Mac make it the right choice.
Granted, PCs may indeed be best for Microsoft Office type programs, accounting, spread sheets and games, you can't beat the Mac for the home user who wants to access photos, music, the internet, etc.
Spend the extra $$ and go with the Mac.

windows can be loaded on to a mac computer, but mac cant be loaded on a windows computer. the reason why a mac operating system cant be loaded on a windows computer is because of the motherboard in the windows computer. for a mac program to work you have to use a mac motherboard.

MAC = Too expensive for what you get. Too slow and too Proprietary. Example : I want to upgrade my videocard on my MAC ---> You probably have 1 or 2 choices for the upgrade.
PC = Better price/performance value, and highly customizable.
Example : I want to upgrade my video card on my PC---> You have 100's of choices.
